A production form that relies on suggestion instead of explicit depiction. Shooting happens with the same contracts, the same ID duties and the same professionalism as in every other format — the difference sits in what is visible in the picture at the end, and almost everything else follows from that.

Other buyers, other rules

Material without explicit depiction can be exploited where explicit material is excluded: on television, in magazines, in advertising, on platforms with strict content guidelines and in channels served by large advertising networks. For productions that is the actual economic appeal of this form.

For you that has an immediate consequence: the usage rights in such contracts are usually drawn more widely, because more channels are to be served. Read carefully for which territory, which period and which media the rights apply. A widely drawn contract is not automatically bad, but it belongs taken into account in the fee.

How that affects the fee

Billing follows the usual rates: 250 to 600 euros per photo day, 400 to 1,200 euros per video day. Where you land within these spans hangs less on the degree of explicitness than on the scope and reach of the exploitation. A recording that runs in an advertising campaign is worth more to the production than one that appears on a single portal.

More often than in other formats the payment is structured as a Buyout: a one-off amount with which all agreed uses are permanently settled. In that case check especially carefully what “all uses” concretely covers.

The release text is the most important document here

Because the material can appear in contexts that have nothing to do with the erotic industry, the Model Release is especially relevant in this production form. It regulates in which connection your picture may be shown.

Watch two formulations. First clauses that allow use “in edited form” or “in connection with other content” — with that a harmless recording can land in an environment you did not choose. Second pass-on rights to third parties. Both can be restricted, but only before the signature.

Who the start through this format suits

Anyone who wants to gather set experience before the first explicit booking: process, waiting times, collaboration with direction and camera, repeating a setup. These routines are format-independent and can be learned here without the extra tension.

One misunderstanding you should clear away: Softcore is not a preliminary stage with less commitment. Contract, ID duty with identity card or passport and the force of your limits list are identical.
