Age Verification and Identity Checks for Productions

Every production must reliably organise and document performers’ age verification before filming. porno-casting.net offers video verification for this purpose, checking age and identity. This preliminary check supports your compliance, but does not replace the production’s own ID check and documentation.

A booking may only be made with adults. In addition to age, identity, consent, agreed content and usage rights must be recorded in a traceable manner. This requires a clear process, protected documents and defined responsibilities.

Agency Checks and the Production’s Responsibility

During registration, the stated date of birth is recorded. For identity and age verification, we accept a valid identity card or passport; a driving licence is not sufficient. The person presented is compared with the photograph and relevant details in the document.

A mere email confirmation, profile picture or stated date of birth is not sufficient for verification. The respective verification status may be displayed on the set card and supports productions in their preliminary selection.

Nevertheless, the verification status does not replace the obligations on the day of production. The production must check whether the person who appears is the same person who was booked and verified, and whether the document presented is still valid. No casting or filming may take place without a valid identity card or passport.

Verification on the Platform

Female and male performers can use video verification in the customer area. During the video call, the agency sees a valid identity card or passport next to the face and compares the date of birth and face. No recording, screenshot or copy of the identity document is made; only the result, date and verification note are stored.

Verified set cards bear the seal “Verified · age and identity checked on …”. Verification is valid for 24 months. At a later stage, an online check by an external verification service may optionally be carried out, with the identification data remaining with that service.

For productions, the agency checks company details such as company name, legal form, address, register, VAT ID number and legal notice, as well as the contact person. This includes comparing the details with the legal notice and register, along with a brief video call. The seal “Production verified” appears on the job card and job page only with an active Starter or Pro subscription; requirements, rates and terms are listed under prices for productions.

None of these seals replaces the production’s own ID check and documentation before every shoot. The production remains responsible for checking the original document, comparing the identity and lawfully maintaining the required records.

ID Checks on the Day of Production

The identity check should take place before work begins and be assigned to a specifically named person from the production. This person checks the original document, compares the photograph and person, and matches the details with the booking, contract and Model Release. Discrepancies in name, date of birth or identity must be clarified before filming.

A reliable check includes at least the following steps:

  • Presentation of an original valid identity card or passport,
  • Comparison of the photograph with the person present,
  • Comparison of the name and date of birth with the contract documents,
  • Creation of legally required records where necessary and permissible,
  • Assignment of all records to the specific production and booking,
  • Documentation of the person conducting the check and the time of verification.

An ID shot can provide traceable documentation that the identified person was present on the day of production and that the checked document belongs to them. How this record may specifically be created and stored depends on its intended use, the legal basis and, where applicable, the requirements of the later distribution channel. Data that is not required should not be collected additionally without a reason.

ID Copies, Model Release and Filming Agreement

Production documentation may include a required copy of the identity document, an ID shot, the signed Model Release and the contractual agreements. The documents must be clearly linked to one another and to the resulting material. Disorganised filing without a connection to the production makes it more difficult to provide subsequent evidence to platforms, business partners or competent authorities.

The Model Release for productions documents, in particular, consent to recording, use and publication. It should clearly identify the persons involved, production date, agreed media, channels, territories and periods. Blanket wording should not replace an understandable agreement that can be specifically assigned to the relevant parties and uses.

This must be distinguished from the filming agreement. Among other things, it governs the fee, procedure, boundaries, travel expenses, catering, withdrawal options and other conditions of cooperation. The Yes-No-Maybe list containing the agreed filming content forms part of the contract; excluded content may not be requested, even for an additional fee.

Retention, Access Protection and GDPR

Copies of identity documents and ID shots contain personal data requiring a high level of protection. Before collecting the documents, the production must clarify the legal basis on which they will be processed, the specific purpose for which they are needed and who may access them. Data subjects must be informed about the processing in an understandable manner.

Filing should be technically and organisationally separated from general production material. Access rights must be restricted to people who actually need the records for compliance, contract administration or a required check. Appropriate measures may include protected storage systems, individual accounts, secure transmission methods and traceable rights management.

There is no uniform retention period that can be stated independently of the purpose, contractual circumstances and statutory obligations. Productions should therefore maintain a documented deletion and retention policy and review the currently applicable requirements. Data must not be stored indefinitely as a precaution when the purpose has ceased to apply and there is no obligation to retain it further.

Handle Health Data Separately

Information about STI tests or other medical findings constitutes specially protected health data. Its processing requires an appropriate legal basis; where consent is used, it must be explicit, informed and related to the specific purpose. The consent and privacy information should be clearly identifiable separately from general contractual clauses.

On the day of filming, an STI panel no older than 14 to 30 days is required; the production bears the cost. However, test results must not automatically be shared with arbitrary crew members or business partners together with identification data. Access and storage duration must be limited to what is actually necessary.

Platforms’ and Distribution Partners’ Own Requirements

Publication and distribution platforms may require additional proof of age, identity or consent. Their requirements differ and may change, so the current specifications must be checked directly before a submission. Verification by the agency does not automatically mean that every external platform will accept the existing proof without modification.

You should therefore plan before filming which channels will be used for the material. This makes it possible to clarify what form of ID shot, which version of the contract and what link between person and content are required. Nevertheless, only data actually needed for the specific purpose should be collected.

Our production glossary also explains terminology relating to releases, usage rights, identity checks and production. International platforms or exploitation outside Germany may be subject to additional requirements. These must be checked separately and kept up to date.

Youth Protection in Previews and Publication

The requirements of German youth media protection law apply to publicly accessible areas. Publicly accessible preview images must not be pornographic. Pornographic content does not belong in freely accessible profiles, job advertisements, preview areas or public advertising pages.

A mere indication of a minimum age or a simple confirmation prompt is not automatically a sufficient access restriction. How a closed adults-only area must be implemented technically and organisationally should be assessed in light of the current legal situation and the specific offering. This applies both to your own websites and to integrated services and platforms.

A robust production process therefore combines three levels: personal ID verification, complete and traceable documentation, and controlled handling of publication and access. Responsibilities should be established before the day of production and not only clarified when a platform asks questions. If there are doubts about identity, document validity or consent, production must not begin.
