Hardcore

A production format featuring actual sexual intercourse, which entails stricter health, contract and distribution rules than Softcore.

In the industry, Hardcore refers to a production format in which sexual intercourse actually takes place and is shown. The counterpart is Softcore, in which erotic activity is suggested or simulated. For performers, the image itself matters less than the consequences: health protection, contracts, fees and distribution differ significantly.

Health and protection

For Hardcore productions, current test documentation is mandatory. Productions arranged through this agency require an STI panel that is no more than 14 to 30 days old on the day of filming; the production covers the cost. Condom use is mandatory without exception for vaginal and anal intercourse. Questions about vaccination protection or prophylaxis belong in a medical consultation, not in the hands of the production.

Boundaries and procedure

What will be filmed is determined in advance. The basis is the yes-no-maybe list, which becomes part of the contract. The details are reviewed again before every scene on set, and the right to stop applies at any time, including in the middle of a take. In larger productions, an Intimacy Coordinator or designated contact person ensures that agreements are respected.

Those appearing in front of the camera for the first time often begin with photo or Softcore formats. No one has to take a step that does not fit their own boundaries.

Contract and rights

A Hardcore shoot requires a written model contract with clearly described content, usage rights, distribution channels and term. The production documents the age and identity of everyone involved. Because recordings of this kind may only be distributed in closed areas with age verification, distribution options are limited; the issue of youth protection is central here.

Pay particular attention to buyout clauses: Once a video has been published, it can hardly be taken back.

Fee and workload

For video productions arranged by this agency, the fee is between 400 and 1,200 euros per shooting day. Where a Hardcore scene is included, the amount depends on the role, experience, scope and rights granted. A shooting day includes preparation, makeup, breaks and photos in addition to the scene itself, so the working time is considerably longer than the finished video.

Difference from Softcore in the daily filming routine

In the course of a shooting day, the two formats differ primarily in their preparation. For Softcore productions, agreements about poses, clothing and perspective are often sufficient. Hardcore additionally involves a testing appointment, documentation, a stricter hygiene protocol and more detailed coordination with the scene partner. Follow-up is also different: Anyone working in this format for the first time should expect stronger emotional reactions and plan to have a trusted person or contact person available for the period afterward.

Before making a decision

  • Only decide about Hardcore once you know the procedures and the people involved.
  • Have the testing requirements, condom policy and contact person confirmed in writing.
  • Clarify distribution, platforms and geoblocking before signing.
  • Take time for aftercare and a brief conversation after the shoot.
