Cookie Consent
The consent that websites must obtain before setting non-essential cookies and that you can reject or withdraw just as easily at any time.
Cookie consent is the approval a website must obtain before it stores or reads information on your device that is not strictly necessary for operation, for example for analytics, advertising or tracking. The legal basis in Germany is the Telecommunications and Digital Services Data Protection Act in conjunction with the General Data Protection Regulation.
Necessary or optional
Cookies and storage entries that are strictly necessary for a service you have expressly requested are permitted without consent: logging into your customer account, your chosen language, a shopping cart or the stored cookie decision itself. Everything else requires consent, including analytics cookies that only measure how visitors arrive.
What makes a proper banner
- Equal choice: Rejecting must be just as easy as accepting, on the same level and equally visible.
- Nothing preselected: Optional categories are initially switched off.
- Clear purposes: Each category explains what it is used for and which cookies belong to it.
- No prior setting: Optional cookies are only created after consent.
- Withdrawal: A permanently accessible link reopens the selection; when consent is withdrawn, the optional cookies are deleted.
This website has exactly one optional category, which measures the origin of an application. All other entries are technically necessary. You can change your selection at any time via the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer.
Why this is also important for Creators
Anyone who operates their own website to sell content or accept bookings is themselves a provider and must comply with the same rules. Typical pitfalls include embedded videos, fonts or analytics services from external providers that already transmit data when the page loads. A banner alone is not enough if services still start before consent is given. Violations may result in warning letters; in addition, every website needs a privacy policy and generally a legal notice, see Legal Notice Requirement.
Discretion while browsing
For visitors to adult websites, the cookie choice is also a matter of privacy. If you reject optional cookies, you leave fewer traces for advertising networks. For complete discretion on shared devices, a private browser window and deleting the browsing history also help.
How long a decision remains valid
Once made, a choice is stored on the device itself and usually remains valid for several months to one year. If the purposes or categories change, the website must ask again. Anyone who deletes cookies in their browser or uses another device will also see the banner again. This is not an error but the result of the decision being stored on the device rather than in an account.
Make an informed decision
- Read the categories before choosing “Accept all.”
- Use the withdrawal link if you change your mind.
- Check which services load before consent on your own website.
Which cookies this website sets is stated in the Privacy Policy.
An open question about this?
Terms explain the what, but not always how it applies to your own situation. If you want to know what this specifically means for you, ask us — it does not have to become an application. Many answers can already be found in the frequently asked questions.
