The No-List is the separately kept list of acts that are excluded for you — completely, without condition and without a price tag. In content it matches the No column of the Yes-No-Maybe list, but in practice it is kept as its own sheet.
The difference is not cosmetic. The limits list is a coordination document that is discussed before the booking. The No-List is the part of it that is not discussed.
Why a separate sheet
A three-column list invites wandering: anyone who sees a Maybe column next to it easily asks whether that one point might still be moved. A separate sheet makes visible that these entries have a different status.
It is also more usable on the shoot day. The No-List fits on one page, hangs with the schedule on some productions, and can be checked in thirty seconds. Nobody on set still reads the full limits list.
Not negotiable, not even for a surcharge
The most common trial balloon on set is a figure: a supplement for an act that stands on the No-List. That is exactly the moment at which it is decided whether the list is worth anything.
A supplement changes nothing about the basis. Anyone who does an excluded act for money has not negotiated better; they have devalued their own list — for this shoot and for all future ones, because the information travels in the industry.
Serious productions therefore do not ask in the first place. They recast the scene or change the script. What is actually negotiable in a fee is under day rate.
If it is touched on set
Then you stop. Not discussed, not weighed, not postponed. Say that the point is on your No-List, and end the shoot day.
The agreed fee stays with you in this case. The reason is simple: you were at the agreed place, at the agreed time, ready for the agreed performance. That nothing was shot sits with a demand that was never part of the contract. On our placements that is agreed with the production in advance.
How you word it
Concrete and without softeners. Not rather not, not not at the moment, but name the act and exclude it. Soft wording is read as it sounds — as bargaining room.
Also include points that are not sexual: no recordings that make your place of residence recognisable, no work without a valid test, no publication on certain channels. A No-List may concern conditions as much as acts.
And keep it short. A list with three clear exclusions is observed. One with forty points is not read.
